Chasing Dexter
Exploring the Science — and Stories — of Human Longevity
An age-old question sits at the heart of aging: do we prioritise length of life, or quality of life? Is that choice even necessary? New research suggests both are simultaneously compatible.
What If Living Past 100 Isn’t About Miracles or Myths...
What if living past 100 isn’t about miracles or myths — but everyday choices, biology, and purpose?
Chasing Dexter is a personal exploration of how humans can live longer, healthier, and more active lives — right to the end.
Inspired by the extraordinary life of Dexter Kruger, Australia’s oldest man at the time of his passing in 2021, this channel separates fact from fiction and digs into the real science behind aging, resilience, and longevity.
WHY CHASING DEXTER?
Dexter Kruger lived to 111 years old. Not in a laboratory. Not chasing fads. But through a simple, purposeful life rooted in movement, curiosity, resilience, and moderation.
His story, although fascinating, is only one amongst many. In fact the global number of centenarians and supercentenarians (those who live past 110) has seen near-exponential growth since the mid-20th century, particularly in countries with sophisticated social programs and advanced health systems. Each one of these extraordinary people had – or has – unique biological, environmental and lifestyle combinations.
Chasing Dexter isn’t about copying one man’s habits – it’s all about asking better questions:
- What really matters for longevity?
- What does science actually support?
- And how can we apply those lessons today?
